Ernest
Concepcion
This month we
shine the spotlight on Ernest Concepcion! Back for his second
contract with PSCI, Ernest works as a VoIP Engineer for the State
of Delaware's Department of Technology and Information where he is
responsible for implementing and supporting voice over IP
technology and infrastructure.
Let's take a
moment to learn more about him in this month's Fast
Five:

- Years at PSCI?
I have been working
at PSCI for just under a year and a half. I began in May of
2017.
- What was your first paying
job? My first paying job
was in New York City's Summer Youth Employment Program. I was 14
years old and worked for the City's Parks and Recreation Department
cleaning city public parks in my neighborhood in the Lower East
Side. It was a very nice experience where I learned to be
responsible for my time and work, and get paid for it. As with most
teens, I used the money earned to buy clothes to be more
fashionable and cool.
- Favorite weekend
hobby? Spending time with family outdoors in parks is my
favorite for the weekend. We frequently visit a park in our area
called Glasgow park where we go bike riding, rollerblading, play
basketball, toss a football around, catch and release pond fish
and/or turtles, picnic, relax and enjoy watching the local wildlife
(Ducks, Geese, Woodchucks, etc.) or people watch as they enjoy
their time.
- If you could go anywhere in the world on
vacation, where would you go? I am not a big vacationer. Aside from a few states
on the east coast, I have only been to my parents' home land of
Puerto Rico. However, I would like to travel places where I'd get
to see the natural beauty of the planet as created by God. Places
like Alaska, Hawaii, the Grand Canyon, etc., would definitely be of
interest for me
- What separates PSCI from other consulting
firms you've worked with? PSCI is, in my opinion, a top brass consulting
firm. Not only does it secure good, steady, quality contracts for
their consultants, but they treat consultants with much
respect. Ken Hoffmann in particular has been very
instrumental in representing PSCI in the highest caliber. He has
demonstrated a very genuine, hands on approach to the people he
represents (be it a contractor or employer) which is uncommon in
today's market. He is very professional and I appreciate his level
of professionalism.

Joining the
Board!
As
an active member in the Delaware Society for Human Resource
Management (SHRM), PSCI's HR Director, Patricia
Brittingham, was asked to take part in a HR panel event
(pictured at left) at Delaware State University. At the event, held
on September 19, Pat spoke about her career path in HR, her current
job responsibilities, and fielded questions from the roughly 30
students in attendance.
Because she is such an active member in DE SHRM, and due to her
accomplished career, Pat was also asked by the Career Services
Dept. at Wilmington University to join their Employer Advisory
Board. This board serves as a forum for dialogue on issues related
to career development and employment for Students and Alumni of
Wilmington U.
As a member of this board, her first order of business will be
hosting another DE SHRM HR panel event at Wilmington University on
October 18. All in attendance will be able to learn about careers
in HR and be afforded the opportunity to network with local HR
professionals!
PSCI is lucky to have such an accomplished and qualified HR
representative!
